Please note #1: AddSearch can only crawl & index your site, once it is published. For SquareSpace, that means that you first need to upgrade and pay for your site to be public, before you can start a demo and trial with AddSearch. Our software cannot find the content on your site, as long as it is unpublished. Please note #2: This manual will be continuously updated. If you still have questions, please contact – September 5th 2014

Squarespace is a great online website editor, with some beautiful templates. To keep these from appearing as beautiful as they are, the platform has limited the access to the code, so installing AddSearch takes a bit more steps than usual. For now this installation guide only works for templates that support the HEADER element, which you can recognize by the horizontal menu on the top of the page. We will investigate the other templates and report back. Suitable templates are for example:

  • Ishimoto
  • Wexley
  • Le Peak
  • Devlin & Co
  • Marquee
  • Takk
  • Pacific
  • Dovetail
  • Bedford
  • and many others.

How to install the AddSearch search field on SquareSpace

  1. Go to Settings > Code Injection.

Then paste the following code into the Header field(replace YOURSITEKEY with actual Site Key):

    <div class=”addsearch-wrapper”> <script src=””></script> </div>

    and click Save.

  2.  Then go the Preview mode (click on the eye-icon) visual-editor and once in the Preview, click on small “brush” icon in the bar on the bottom right to access “Style Mode“. brush
  3. Once in Style Mode, click on the header, and then in the menu on the left, click on the Custom CSS button, and “confirm”. click-css
  4. . In the pop-up, then paste the following code:

    .addsearch-wrapper { position: absolute; right: 100px; top: 25px; z-index: 1 }

    And click Save. Done.

This will locate the search field on the upper right side of your website, the most common place for a search bar. However, you can position it differently (lower, or more to the left for example) by changing the values of “right” and “top”, in the CSS. Of course, if you have any problems, or you want us to adjust the CSS or position for you, just contact us at:
